Hace un par de días, el presidente de los EEUU Donald Trump hizo realidad una de sus promesas de campaña menos populares al retirarse del Acuerdo de París sobre cambio climático. Los Estados Unidos se han unido al selecto grupo conformado por Siria y Nicaragua (que se rehusaron a firmar únicamente porque “no era suficiente” y no incluía sanciones severas para los países más ricos), y ahora son los únicos tres países del mundo que no adheridos al Acuerdo de París.

Aún cuando el efecto de dicha decisión por ahora sólo consiste en vergüenza simbólica, dado que Estados Unidos no podrá salir del acuerdo oficialmente hasta el 4 de noviembre de 2020 (¡hey, mira, justo un día después de las elecciones estadounidenses!) y que el mundo desarrollado seguirá trabajando para disminuir sus emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero, las reacciones no se hicieron esperar. Una serie de músicos políticamente activos usaron sus redes sociales para condenar el anuncio presidencial. Thom Yorke llamó a Trump un "maldito payaso"; John Legend lo nombró "nuestra vergüenza nacional"; Bette Midler dijo que "nunca, en la historia de los EEUU, había habido un megalomaniaco tan destructivo” en la Casa Blanca.
